Straightforward, relevant, real and most (not all) of the remarks was concluded with a Bible verse readers can use as reference.  A compilation of real and day-to-day questions from readers and accompanied by Max's personal opinions and experiences.  Addressing issues about families, parenting, Christianity, financial, relationship etc.   

Structure:

A collection and list of Q & A format.  Extremely easy to read.  The categorised topics also made it a breeze to refer to. 

Book Cover:

Since it is a jacketed cover, I wrapped it with the plastic book wrapper so that I can preserve it for a longer time and make it more durable.  Very handsome profile picture of Max on the cover.

Overall:

This is a very good & valuable guidance book everyone and every family should have keep in their bookshelf.

Book Review *One Hand, Two Hands by Max Lucado*

After almost 2 months waiting eagerly for it and almost gave up, it finally arrived! Requested this book via Booksneeze's reviewer programme on the 18 August 2010 and this is my first book from Booksneeze and also first time reading Max Lucado's wonderful creation.

What Do I Think About The...

Story:

I love the storyline as it is about teaching children how God bless us with our hands and we can do so many wonderful things with it. From doing simple things for themselves to helping others in tiny ways. It also reminds the adults to be thankful too. T

he prayer at the of the book is also very heartwarming. Written in rhyming text, it is even easier and makes it more fun to read it to a 17 month old toddler. My favourite page is when Max wrote "Wipe tears. Give a gift. Write Grandma a letter. With hands and a hug, we make people feel better". It touches my heart deeply.

Book Cover:

Very sweet looking but the jacketed cover was a little flimsy so I had to remove it before Isabelle could get her hands on it and start tearing or chewing it away.

Pages:

Perhaps a thicker material would be great for younger kids as some of them enjoy turning the pages over and over again. And with a thicker material, we can read it to even younger little ones.

Illustrations:

Isabelle likes the characters especially the kitten and they reappear in most of the pages. That attracts her. I also love it that Isabelle can relate to most of the practical daily chores projected in the book : combing, holding a cup, buttoning shirts. Brilliant! Lovely pictures and soft colors. But the soft colors doesn't really appeal to little ones. Maybe pictures in sharper and bolder colors would do more magic.

Overall:

I know this is a wonderful book that I can keep reading to Isabelle for another few years down the road and will grow together with us. Looking forward to more such awesome books in the near future and definitely will recommend this book to friends!

1st Booksneeze's Book On Its Way

I have just requested One Hand, Two Hands by Max Lucado. I have missed the previous round of new book release and this time, I grabbed it. Thanks to Mummy Jenny for prompting me about the newly available books and also for recommending me the awesome Booksneeze =D

And now, I will just have to wait for Mr Postman to come with my 1st parcel from Booksneeze.

Aspiring little bookworm

I know I should not worry that Isabelle is picking up all the good traits from us. Reading for instance.

But what if she competes with me with all my HER WORLD, FEMALE and in this case, WOMEN'S WEEKLY? LOL.

Well, we will just gotta get extra copies then. Responsible and sensible parents should encourage positive habits and let the good qualities flourish in our children, shouldn't we? Maybe Isabelle & Mummy can one day share some beauty tips and exchange ideas :)
