Vain Vain Baby

Do you have a child who is vain and expect you to be the same?

Takes off my glasses and leaving me squinting my eyes
watching the tv or finding my way around the house

Refuse to wear sunshades appropriate for her age

Instead, conquer mine

Does not allow (not all the time) me to wear
my comfy housedress at home

Usually prefers me to be in tshirt or some fancy tops with jeans
or sometimes, dress.
Yeah right! Dress! Pfft!

Worst - She will whine and whine whenever she see me
tied up my hair in ponytail!

Nope, no tucking hair behind my ears too either.
The boss says "Mummy, not behind ears. You must have long hair!"

Sweetie, if THIS is how you want Mommy to look like every single day,
while chasing after you, picking up toys, feeding you, cooking, cleaning
and trying to stay sane,
I am sorry sweetie, you would need to wish harder.

So, am I alone with all these ridiculous demands?
Or do you have a child who have thinks the same as Isabelle?

Happy Little Ones

Cheeky

Happy

Precious

Lord,
I thank You for the precious gift You granted us.
Children, indeed, they are your greatest gift.
Protect them and carry them when they can't stand on their own.
Give them pure thoughts and a heart for Your word as they grow.
Help them see things as You do and remind them of Your love,
for they are never too young to know.
Help us Moms to raise and teach them in Your ways.
Replace our fears with the confidence of Your words and promises.
And may we bring up children to glorify Your name.
Amen.

Children are an heritage and gift from God, and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
Psalms 127: 3-5

An Evening At Chrystal Children's Home

We tagged along with Mom and Dad when they went for a visit to the Chrystal Children's Home. It was one of the Woman's Fellowship activities.

Isabelle had a blast with the children at the home. And I had a ball snapping away.

My little girl is too young to benefit and experience any emotional lessons from this visit. But for me, getting to know the children is getting to know my own blessings and to be thankful. The blessings of having our parents and their unconditional love. Many times we take our parents' love for granted when this is what the children long for most. Most of them were abandoned by their own parents when they were very young and some of them were left wandering the streets at very tender age. It is heartbreaking and bitter to listen to their stories.

My heart and prayers are with them. Thank the Lord that His love has placed them in a proper home and His love found its way to their once inadequate and insecure lives. May God's grace and mercy continue to keep them happy and bless with them a happier childhood every child deserves.

Lantern In The House

It is the time of the year again. Lanterns... mooncakes... candles...

And again, travelling back to my childhood years. I remember hanging out with other kids from the neighbourhood, showing off our lanterns. Such good memories that I will cherish all my life. I was a happy Mommy when we went out to get lanterns for Isabelle. I can be a child again, playing with lanterns and not feel silly!

Now it is time for Isabelle to create her lantern memories, with us! :)

My little girl having a jolly lantern time!

Once Upon A Time, I Love...

*all pictures sourced from google search

Any of you out there comes from my generation and era? Does any of the names (or faces) above ring any bell or somehow feels familiar to you? If not, what genre of music, movies, series or singers did you grow up going nuts about?

Oh, now you would be able to guess how old I am won't you? Gee... I am really getting old!

The Child In Me

Many things I encounter daily reminds of my sweet & fun childhood days. Namely, cartoons :)

Was searching for some clips on youtube to show Isabelle this morning and suddenly I remembered this one particular classic Mickey Mouse cartoon. I remembered that I would watch it over and over again and still find it thrilling. And even today while watching it, I feel like a child again.

So, here it is. Mickey's Trailer.

What is in store for my baby?

While waiting for my turn at the post office to renew my driving license this morning, I did a little bit of daydreaming and wondering (as usual) as the queue was long and I had quite some time to kill. I looked around the post office and remembered how it used to look like 20 years ago. Then my wondering travel back to my childhood days. I started by remembering how my parents would drive me here to post my mails. Then I remember how I used to walk to school with a neighbor aka schoolmate. We used to live at this row of shophouses along the main road of my hometown and school was just about 5 minutes walk away. Dad sending me to school on his motorbike every now and then or when weather was too hot for me to walk. Mom sending me my favourite chee cheong fun to school during recess (yes, I was a very pampered girl). Me and neighbors playing at the backlane in the evenings and almost all day long during school breaks. All the little things I did and all the memories started flashing in my head.

I sighed. Life was so easy, happy and 'safe' for me when I was younger. Then it dawned on me, what lies ahead for my little baby? Would the world still be safe for her to walk anywhere like I walked to school? Only the weather alone terrifies me. We could survived with just one table fan and it was cooling enough that we still use a blanket. Now, with the air-conditioner switched on at 16 degrees, we still complain about the heat. How is the weather going to be in another short 5 years time? Is my little baby going to live as comfortably as I did? What about school? Every time we read the newspapers, we see news about school bully in primary school and even rape cases in school itself. Cruel, cold & sad. The world is changing, so fast and so furiously. We all know and can't deny that the world is not changing for the better.

Yes I know I sounded doubtful but I know I had to trust in God that He will walk us through all things in life. And I know He will guard my little baby in any circumstances.
