Favourite Moments

Yes, we still co-sleep with our little Isabelle who just turned 3 this May

And I am loving every moment of it,
even though it means having her hands punching and slapping my
face throughout the night,
her saliva drooling and drenching me and my pillows.
Eventhough her toys occupies like 30% of our small queen sized bed
and DH has to continue to sleep on the pull out single bed next to us
(so near, yet so far).
And lately, she seems to enjoy sleeping on my FACE!
Last few nights, being half asleep, in the middle of the night,
she literally turns my face to face her and then, yes,
slept on my FACE!

Despite all that, she made all that my favourite moments
and I would not trade it for anything else.

So Nice

Someone to hold me tight

That would be very nice
Someone to love me right
That would be very nice

Someone to understand
Each little dream in me
Someone to take my hand
And be a team with me

So nice, life would be so nice
If one day I'd find
Someone who would take my hand
And samba through life with me

Someone to cling to me
Stay with me right or wrong
Someone to sing to me
Some little samba song

Someone to take my heart
And give his heart to me
Someone who's ready to
Give love a start with me

Oh yes, that would be so nice,
Shouldn't we, you and me?

I could see it would be nice

Lantern In The House

It is the time of the year again. Lanterns... mooncakes... candles...

And again, travelling back to my childhood years. I remember hanging out with other kids from the neighbourhood, showing off our lanterns. Such good memories that I will cherish all my life. I was a happy Mommy when we went out to get lanterns for Isabelle. I can be a child again, playing with lanterns and not feel silly!

Now it is time for Isabelle to create her lantern memories, with us! :)

My little girl having a jolly lantern time!

Baby Tools

Just want to keep the memory of the few items we used for Isabelle since her birthday.

Mustela Baby Bath
A friend residing in France sent me 8 bottles of this and I am very grateful because it costs as much as RM65 per bottle here. A bottle of this would be equivalent to 4 bottles of J&J baby bath. I had no particular reason to use this brand but since it is good and I have supply to last at least till Isabelle's 2nd birthday, I am a happy Mustela baby's mummy. It smells clean and not too perfumey.

Mustela Non-Rinse Cleansing Fluid
I also got 2 bottle of this together with the 8 bottles of Mustela Baby Bath. And yes, I am also very very extremely grateful for this too. I don't use it exclusively to clean up Isabelle. Most of the times, I clean her up with water and I save this precious fluid for really desperado times aka very super soiled diaper change session. And occasionally, I do steal it to clean table surfaces.

Yu Yee Oil
I am really sure of this one's effect but I used it because old folks says it helps to keep colic away. So, again, we have been using Yu Yee Oil for Isabelle specially after bath or when weather is cool. We have not replenish this item yet since we finished the last drop. Note the empty bottle and torn label.

Bepanthen Rash Cream
I started to use Bepanthen when I was breastfeeding during the first few months after Isabelle arrived and was using another anti diaper rash cream for her. But I found Bepanthen to be very good and effective. Thus, the switch.

Pigeon Baby Wipes (love that it is unscented & non-alcohol)
Yes, I know I am not as green as I should be a (we are cloth diapering Isabelle *self comfort*). But as we are planning to potty train her very soon, so with that, we hope we can get rid of baby wipes too. And whenever we are home, we try to minimise the use of baby wipes and uses water instead.

Cetaphil Moisturising Lotion
Pediatrician prescribed Isabelle this for her dry skin when she was about 2 months old. And this is our 3rd bottle of good old faithful drugstore brand Cetaphil at home :)

What is in store for my baby?

While waiting for my turn at the post office to renew my driving license this morning, I did a little bit of daydreaming and wondering (as usual) as the queue was long and I had quite some time to kill. I looked around the post office and remembered how it used to look like 20 years ago. Then my wondering travel back to my childhood days. I started by remembering how my parents would drive me here to post my mails. Then I remember how I used to walk to school with a neighbor aka schoolmate. We used to live at this row of shophouses along the main road of my hometown and school was just about 5 minutes walk away. Dad sending me to school on his motorbike every now and then or when weather was too hot for me to walk. Mom sending me my favourite chee cheong fun to school during recess (yes, I was a very pampered girl). Me and neighbors playing at the backlane in the evenings and almost all day long during school breaks. All the little things I did and all the memories started flashing in my head.

I sighed. Life was so easy, happy and 'safe' for me when I was younger. Then it dawned on me, what lies ahead for my little baby? Would the world still be safe for her to walk anywhere like I walked to school? Only the weather alone terrifies me. We could survived with just one table fan and it was cooling enough that we still use a blanket. Now, with the air-conditioner switched on at 16 degrees, we still complain about the heat. How is the weather going to be in another short 5 years time? Is my little baby going to live as comfortably as I did? What about school? Every time we read the newspapers, we see news about school bully in primary school and even rape cases in school itself. Cruel, cold & sad. The world is changing, so fast and so furiously. We all know and can't deny that the world is not changing for the better.

Yes I know I sounded doubtful but I know I had to trust in God that He will walk us through all things in life. And I know He will guard my little baby in any circumstances.

Sentimental Snail Mails

Found a stack of mails in a folder sitting on the desk at the corner of the hall. Out of curiosity, I took a peep. To my sweet delight, it was some mails I received from friends. Some aging at least between 13-15 years old! Quickly took my shower and clean up Isabelle after a busy evening and pass her to Daddy to tuck into bed. I then sit down and slowly go through my old mails. Stories of college experience, school day memories, projects, pressure, struggle, dreams, boys (ahem), ambitions, silly thoughts and some quite dramatic events shared in the mails. I almost forgot I had some very great penpals till I saw those mails. How blissful to be young and 16.

Mom must have done some spring cleaning lately to have discovered all my long lost 'treasure'. I certainly hope she did not had the chance to read any of those mails :) But I am glad she found them and kept them in good condition for me.

Snail mails are like rare gem now that we have the convenience of emails. It still thrills me to receive real cards and letters occasionally. Not that emails and ecards mean anything less but snail mails somehow feels warmer and more sentimental. I remember how I used to wait eagerly for my weekly letters from schoolmates to arrive when we went separate ways to different colleges. I even remember I once waited anxiously for a classic cuckoo clock my uncle sent me from London. The feeling was exciting and something we don’t really feel waiting for an email.

I believe there are more old mails around the home, waiting to be found again. I hope I will be able to find time to dig them out.

Since I will be meeting up with a classmate this trip home, I should bring along some of the mails she sent me and we can have a hearty laugh about her stories. That sounds like a terrific agenda! And this also reminds me to send out some real cards this coming Christmas. :)

Her Lullaby - What A Friend We Have in Jesus

DH successfully lulled Isabelle to bed tonight. And that was because I reminded him to hum her favourite lullaby. ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ Nevertheless, good job my DH :) And yes, her lullaby is the soothing and peaceful old hymn 'What A Friend We Have In Jesus'.

When my confinement nanny went home at the end of her employment, I knew I had to think of a lullaby and instantly, this song emerged in my mind and today, it has been a year and a month since I started to sing this song 3 times a day, sometimes 4. And I am not complaining.

My late grandmother loved this hymn. Vivid, lovely and very warm memories of her came into my mind almost each time I sing this song. And each time I think of her, I miss her and wish so hard that she is still around. I hope I will be able to blog about her soon.

And to Isabelle, this song never fails to lead her into dreamland.

Good night & happy dreams, my little baby.
