What is in store for my baby?

While waiting for my turn at the post office to renew my driving license this morning, I did a little bit of daydreaming and wondering (as usual) as the queue was long and I had quite some time to kill. I looked around the post office and remembered how it used to look like 20 years ago. Then my wondering travel back to my childhood days. I started by remembering how my parents would drive me here to post my mails. Then I remember how I used to walk to school with a neighbor aka schoolmate. We used to live at this row of shophouses along the main road of my hometown and school was just about 5 minutes walk away. Dad sending me to school on his motorbike every now and then or when weather was too hot for me to walk. Mom sending me my favourite chee cheong fun to school during recess (yes, I was a very pampered girl). Me and neighbors playing at the backlane in the evenings and almost all day long during school breaks. All the little things I did and all the memories started flashing in my head.

I sighed. Life was so easy, happy and 'safe' for me when I was younger. Then it dawned on me, what lies ahead for my little baby? Would the world still be safe for her to walk anywhere like I walked to school? Only the weather alone terrifies me. We could survived with just one table fan and it was cooling enough that we still use a blanket. Now, with the air-conditioner switched on at 16 degrees, we still complain about the heat. How is the weather going to be in another short 5 years time? Is my little baby going to live as comfortably as I did? What about school? Every time we read the newspapers, we see news about school bully in primary school and even rape cases in school itself. Cruel, cold & sad. The world is changing, so fast and so furiously. We all know and can't deny that the world is not changing for the better.

Yes I know I sounded doubtful but I know I had to trust in God that He will walk us through all things in life. And I know He will guard my little baby in any circumstances.

Seriously, 16 degrees? Ours is just 25 degrees with fan speed 1 on ler... Try not to set so low leh... else later Isabelle got used to it then everywhere she goes must be that temperature! :P

And yeah... the world is changing. I think just the fact that parents nowadays are so competitive to the point of pressuring their child to start learning so fast and so young is depressing (for me) enough ler... I want Ben to enjoy his childhood more leh... :(

Jenny,
the 16 degrees is for us adults la. For Isabelle, 22-24 degrees with fan speed 1 and only until 3 or 4am, then auto OFF. Unless on a super hot day, then we go for 20 and maybe leave it till 4 or 5am.

Today's world is so demanding and it is sad, isnt it?

I only slept in air-con room upon marriage because hubby & baby perspire easily. 24-25 degree Celsius is quite comfy, anything lower I'd be shivering. Ha!

In a way, use of cars, air-cons, etc contribute to global warming, so we need to explore Eco-friendly measures from home. When Mother Earth suffers, all of us suffer eventually.

Learning from a young age can be done in a very fun & enjoyable manner. I'm glad to have come across left-right brain development for babies / toddlers. Children learn easiest at age 0-3.

My objective of letting my boy go through the program in class & at home (all done in a fun way) is so that he can learn easily in formal school in future. This way, he can have more time for extra-curricular activities and truly enjoy his childhood.

Enjoy your weekend. :)

Guess this is the reason why most of the parents of these days are getting more protective over their kids. Raising kids nowadays isn't only about enlightening them on their education, civics, family value.....but most importantly, own safety.

Good thing about the safety issues is that it truly makes ppl appreciate each other more. Not only that, we tend to express our loves to our kids & family members more often than before.

Pretty sure that we'll not be able to change the threatening environment around us for the near future. However, we can change the way we appreciate & love towards our beloved one.

Hi MieVee,
Yes, it is true that we need to do our part to delay the deteriorating of the earth, no matter how little we can do. cloth diapering is a good way to start and i am glad i am already doing that although I know I have a long way to go and there are lots more I can do.

Happy Sunday!

I'm not sure what is in store for our kids. I witnessed a very disturbing sight while I was on holidays, and my first thought was, "That could have be my daughter one day!"
